How do I connect my panel to Wi-Fi using the Frontpoint app?

Connect your Frontpoint Hub to your home Wi-Fi network through a few simple steps to increase the functionality and reliability of your security system. Once your Hub is connected to Wi-Fi, dual-path communication is enabled, providing a a backup for the built-in cellular connection.

Wi-Fi acts as a safeguard if the cellular signal is weak or disconnects. The cellular signal can be affected by several factors, such as distance from cell towers and signal interference. By connecting your Hub to Wi-Fi, you can ensure that your system stays connected and operational at all times, keeping you and your home secure. Additionally, connecting your Hub to Wi-Fi allows it to:

  • Receive faster, more frequent software updates

  • More promptly update your system status when commands are sent from the Frontpoint app or website

  • Update sensor status more promptly on the Frontpoint app and website

Follow the instructions below to connect your security Hub to Wi-Fi using the Frontpoint app:

Before following the steps to connect your Hub to Wi-Fi, ensure you know your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.

Connect your Frontpoint Hub to Wi-Fi

  1. Log into your account on the Frontpoint app

  2. Tap on the Security System section on the homepage

  3. Tap on the gear icon in the top right corner

  4. Tap Panel Wi-Fi

  5. Tap Scan For Networks

  6. A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear for the Hub- find your home Wi-Fi network name and type in the password for your network into password field

  7. Tap Connect at the top right and allow the Hub up 3 minutes to connect to your Wi-Fi. Stay on the "Connecting to Wi-Fi" page until your Wi-Fi successfully connects.

  • If the Hub successfully connects to your Wi-Fi network, a successful connection message will appear at the top of the page.

  • If the Hub fails to connect to your Wi-Fi network, a failed to connect message will appear at the top of the page and you will return to the list of available W-Fi networks to attempt to connect again.
