How do I connect my security panel to my Wi-Fi using the Frontpoint app?

Connect your security panel to your home Wi-Fi network through a few simple steps to increase the functionality and reliability of your security system. Once your panel is connected to Wi-Fi, dual-path communication is enabled, providing a a backup for the built-in cellular connection.

Wi-Fi acts as a safeguard if the cellular signal is weak or disconnects. The cellular signal can be affected by several factors, such as distance from cell towers and signal interference. By connecting your security panel to Wi-Fi, you can ensure that your system stays connected and operational at all times, keeping you and your home secure. Additionally, a Wi-Fi connection allows your panel to:

    • Receive faster, more frequent software updates

    • More promptly update your system status when commands are sent from the Frontpoint app or website

    • Update sensor status more promptly on the Frontpoint app and website

Follow the instructions below to connect your security panel to Wi-Fi using the Frontpoint app:

Before following the steps to connect your panel to Wi-Fi, ensure you know your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.

Connect your security panel to Wi-Fi

  1. Log into your account on the Frontpoint app.

  2. Tap the arrow to the right of Security System on the home screen.

  3. Tap the Gear icon at the top right open the Security System Settings menu.

  4. Tap Panel Wi-Fi near the bottom.

  5. Tap Scan for Networks.

  6. Once the list of available Wi-Fi networks appears, select your home Wi-Fi network and carefully type in your Wi-Fi network's password.

  7. Tap Connect at the top right.

  8. Wait up to 5 minutes for your panel to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

  9. If your security panel was able to connect to Wi-Fi, a Connected message will display at the top of the Panel Wi-Fi menu.

    • If your security panel fails to connect to your Wi-Fi network, ensure the Wi-Fi password entered was correct and check that your Wi-Fi is working with a different device.

    • If you experience any issues with your connection, try moving your security panel closer to your Wi-Fi router.
