How do I set up a notification based on the GPS location of my phone?

Frontpoint's Places feature makes it easy for you to set up automation rules and reminders based on your smartphone's location using geo-services. Trigger these reminders and automation rules when traveling into or out of a set boundary or "geofence".

Add, edit, and delete geofences directly from the Frontpoint app and set up location-based rules. These rules enable you to automate devices like lights and thermostats so they turn on/off when you come home/leave. You can also set arming reminders for when you leave home and automatically pause camera recordings whenever you're at home.

A Home location will be the first geofence created by default. The geofence will surround your home address, and the exact location can be updated during the setup for Places.

Turn on Places with the Frontpoint app

  1. From the home screen of the Frontpoint app, tap the Menu button to open the navigation menu.

  2. Tap Places.

  3. Tap Turn on location to start the setup for Places.

  4. Complete the remaining on-screen prompts to finish setting up your phone as a geo-device.

    • Enabling Location Services will be required to use the following app features:

      • Arming reminders

      • Sensor reminders

      • Pause video recordings

      • Light automation rules

  5. Center the pin on the geofence over your home address, adjust the radius with the + and - buttons, and tap confirm to complete the setup.

  6. Create additional geofences by tapping the + button in the top right corner

Having trouble?

If you cannot see "Places" in the left-hand menu on your account, please make sure you have the most updated version of the Frontpoint app.
