How do I mount the Door and Window Sensor on a Double-Hung window?

On a Double Hung window, there are two independently moving windowpanes, one on the top and one on the bottom. When setting up a sensor on one of these windows you can place it on the top of the bottom pane where the lock is located, as shown below:
