How do I connect my Frontpoint system to Google Home?

Your Frontpoint system can be linked to Google Home to help you control your system. Connecting with Google Home enables you to enhance your home automation by bringing voice control to your Frontpoint system. Voice control is supported with any Android device that has Google Assistant and Google Nest smart speakers (e.g., Google Nest Hub, Nest Mini, etc.). 

 

To bring Google Home compatibility to your Frontpoint system, we have partnered with Alarm.com, a pioneering home security company that has delivered smart solutions for total protection for the last 20 years. During the Google Home set up you will connect your Google account to Alarm.com, in this process, your Frontpoint system will be connected to Google Home.  

 

Important: Google Home's primary language must be set to English for your voice commands to function properly.

 

Connect your Frontpoint system to Google Home using your voice and a Google Home:

  1. Say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" to Google Home, and then either "Talk to Alarm.com" or "Speak to Alarm.com".
  2. Google Home will say, "It looks like your Alarm.com account is not yet linked".
  3. Open the Google Home app on the mobile phone.
  4. Tap Discover_Google_Home_Icon.png to navigate to the Discover page.
  5. In the "Related to your activity card", it displays "Link to Alarm.com". Tap Link in the card to link the Google Home to Alarm.com.
  6. Enter the username and password for your Frontpoint account.
  7. Tap Allow.

Note: If the Google Home returns a Google search for "Alarm.com" instead of the Link card, the device is not compatible with the voice process.

 

Connect your Frontpoint system to Google Home using your voice and Google Assistant:

  1. Open Google Assistant and say, "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" or tap the microphone at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Once the microphone has turned into colorful dots say either: "Talk to Alarm.com" or "Speak to Alarm.com".
  3. If an account is not yet linked, Google Assistant will say: "Before you can use Alarm.com, I need to link your Alarm.com account to Google. Is that ok?"

  4. Tap Yes.
  5. Enter the username and password for your Frontpoint account .
  6. Tap Allow.

Note: If the Google Assistant returns a Google search for Alarm.com instead of the Link card, the device is not compatible with the voice process.

 

Connect your Frontpoint system to Google Home using Google Assistant with an Android Device:

Note: Google Home may not be able to sync with Alarm.com during the setup process when using a Verizon Samsung device. It may be required to perform the setup with a different device.

  1. Open Google Assistant and say, "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" or tap the microphone at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Once the microphone has turned into colorful dots say either: "Talk to Alarm.com" or "Speak to Alarm.com".
  3. If an account is not yet linked, Google Assistant will say: "Before you can use Alarm.com, I need to link your Alarm.com account to Google. Is that ok?"

  4. Tap Yes.
  5. Enter the username and password for your Frontpoint account .
  6. Tap Allow.

Connect your Frontpoint system to Google Home using Google Assistant with an iOS Device:

Note: The device must have the microphone and Siri enabled for the Google Assistant app in the device's settings to give Google Assistant voice commands.

  1. Open the Google Assistant app on the mobile device.
  2. Verify you are logged into your Google account for the Google Assistant app.
  3. Tap compass_Google_Home.png
  4. Enter Alarm.com in the search field, and then tap Alarm.com in the search results.
  5. Tap Link.

  6. Using your Frontpoint username and password, log into Alarm.com and link the account to your Google Home.
  7. Tap Allow.
  8. The Frontpoint account is now synced with the Google Home account. Tap Try It to test commands using the Google Assistant app.

  9. Open the Google Home app.
  10. Verify you are logged into the same Google account that is being used for the Google Assistant app.
  11. Verify the desired Google Home device is set up.
  12. Test a Frontpoint command using the Google Home device (i.e., arm system).
