We recommend placing the Carbon Monoxide Sensor in bedrooms, rooms where occupants spend a significant amount of time, or rooms with fuel-burning appliances.
If mounted in a room with fuel-burning appliances, it should be located at a height greater than the height of any door or window but still be at least 6 inches from the ceiling.
If mounted in a room without a fuel-burning appliance, place the Carbon Monoxide Sensor close to the breathing zone of the occupants.
In a single room dwelling, the sensor should be placed as far away from the cooking appliances as possible, but near to where the person sleeps.
If mounted in a room not normally used, the sensor can be placed just outside the room so that the alarm will be heard more easily.
